Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

This recipe is healthy, delicious and super easy! All you need to do is throw all the ingredients in the slow cooker and the work is done for you!


  • 1 medium diced onion
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 diced red bell pepper
  • 1 large sweet potato
  • 1 lb 93% lean ground chicken
  • 1 lb 95% lean ground beef
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 (16 oz) can petite diced tomatoes 
  • 1 cup reduced sodium chicken broth
  • 2 diced avocados
Optional: the original recipe also called for 2 seeded jalapeƱos; 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes; and 4 oz goat cheese. I don't like spicy food, so I skipped the jalapeƱos and red pepper flakes. I love goat cheese and avocados, but I actually forgot to top off the chili when I was finished!


Put all the ingredients except for the avocados and (optional) goat cheese in the slow cooker. Cook on low heat for 8 hours. Note that the original recipe said to break up the ground meat with a wooden spoon when done. However, I would break up the meat before putting it into the slow cooker.

Serve with avocado on top.
